KEEP ON PUSHING

Appears we have forgotten how to fight anything but one another

What happened to fighting for education or safer neighborhoods?

Those days when we thought of one another as Sisters and Brothers

Growing up in the city but behaving as if we are from the back woods

Young people in need of love and respect but have no where to turn

Good teachers are discouraged and flee from the cities to the suburbs

All this madness around them, how are our children suppose to learn

12th graders who do not know the difference between verbs and adverbs

Police, once worried about being kicked, now worry about being killed

Six year olds and nineteen year olds are all carrying guns to schools

Shooting people for induction into neighborhood gangs are their thrills

Our clean, well-kept neighborhoods have become drug-ridden cesspools

Malcolm X, George Jackson, Stokley Carmichael must be furious

Imagine, they gave their lives so our children and we could have ours

To have a better way of life, parents nor children today, seem curious

Their lives just slipping away while they drink, drug or sleep for hours

No, this is not true of all African Americans but it is for far too many

Problem being, the negative numbers are not shirking but growing larger

If we do not wake-up now, a future, our children truly will not have any

Number of African American children killed or arrested grows each year

Some reality, things will definitely not get better if we “throw in the towel”

Let us wake-up, come together and for everyone’s sake, find a solution

Those who would like the situation to remain is not asleep but on the prowl

If Children are to survive Adults and I mean ALL adults, “Keep On Pushing”

Re: Going To Bat For Our Children

To: Whom It May Concern & That Should Be All Of Us

Dear All Americans:

First, let me say, I truly appreciate all the help and support I receive from Family, Friends, Churches, Colleges, Community Leaders, Editors, Television and Radio Reporters, Police Departments, School Administrators, complete Strangers and the list goes on. If it were not for God and each of you, I would have given up on this mission. God has assigned me to help “Save Our Children” and He has Blessed me to have written my first book, “If We Save Our Children…We Save America” and I am currently working on my second.

There is no way I am giving up on OUR CHILDREN! They are OUR FUTURE! I am not a religious zealot but God has assured me that if we do not believe in Him, we will not believe in ourselves, our children or those He have chosen to “Save Our Children”. I repeat, our children are our future and they are in desperate need of ADULT HELP!!!!

Children are running out of all their necessities: Adult role models, leaders and leadership, educational benefits, parental concern, future employment, Social Security benefits for their retirement, caring from local, State and federal law enforcement and the list has no end in sight. What children are not running out of is, induction into gangs, drug pushing, molesters, being murdered, child pregnancy (you notice I said child and not teen) and that is likewise a continuous list.

You would think that those of us in positions of accomplishments would be willing to change their negative courses into positive ones and would eagerly reach out to one another. Obviously, that is not the case because I have been reaching out for several years and just like our children, I am continuously lied to or ignored.

Here is the truly sad reality about failing our children. Most of us, who are in positions to help children, are only in those positions because someone cared enough to lay the groundwork in the first place. There were family, friends and strangers who were building bridges for us to walk across and now we are either too non-caring or just too sorry to build those same bridges for today’s youth.

Who am I to say such things? I am a loving and caring African American Man who had it not been for caring grandparents (who died much too soon) and pure strangers who loved and protected me,

I would not be daily handing out literature, making speeches, not spending enough time with my loving wife and family or setting at my computer typing “motivational poems” and urgent letters like this one, asking all of us to come together before it is too late and SAVE OUR CHILDREN!!

We do not need to give up our entire way of life to make positive differences for our young people. We just need to spend more quality time with them. If we spend less time in bars, casinos, playing slots, race tracks and jumping from bed to bed and more time taking children to museums, gyms, libraries, fixing decent meals, going to church, setting aside funds for education and just having one-on-one conversations it would make a monumental difference.

When I listen to African American males (cannot call them Men) having conversations these days, I am sickened to my stomach. If supposedly, grown men have little or no respect for women and children how we can expect the next generation to have any. When every other word coming out of a so-called grown women’s mouths are curse words, what kind of an example is that setting for young girls growing up to become women? If so-called men and women curse at five and six year old children, what does that tell us?

We do not have any time left to procrastinate. We are losing our homes, what few businesses we have left, our cars and worse of all, OUR CHILDREN because we have not been paying attention to REALITY. The REALITY is the things that are happening to us were in the planning stages years and years ago. Those doing the planning knew they would win and we would fail our children and ourselves. On a daily bases we are proving them right.

Please, I am asking you to help our children have a better future by attending more PTSA meeting, city council meetings, and law enforcement meetings, volunteering at locals’ schools and by all means spending more quality time with our children. Teach children to respect adults and one another. This is not a game and the more we ignore what is happening to our children the more we help to destroy them and our future.

Stop being ignorant. Look around you. Who is taking over our communities and our jobs? Smart people, who realize what opportunities there are as American citizens. All we seem to realize is that it is great to kill, maim, rob and rape on another. I assure you, it is not great. It is destructive and stupid. Our enemies are destroying us and we are too stupid to see it. They want us to listen to rap music, watch destructive TV programs and kill one another, so they can incarcerate us, forever.

Recently in Baltimore City Maryland, there was a shooting outside a church where a funeral was being held. Tell me, are we just plain ignorant, do not care, a supporter of violence or all three and then some. Wake-up people and realize that we are playing into the hands of those who wish to see us destroy ourselves. You think because you have comfortable little jobs and for now, important names and positions you are not on the list of destruction, you are crazy.

I am asking all caring fellow Americans; no, I am begging you to help our children and me, to help our children. Help me get the word out that the next generation is on its way to total destruction if we do not work together.

If you agree with these words, which are not just coming from my computer but from my heart, reach out to others and me. Help us help America by making a difference in our children’s lives. WE NEED THEM and THEY SURELY NEED US!!!!

Reading this, do not let an error in my spelling or a missed formulated sentence make you think I am un-educated or do not know what I am speaking of. I am well aware that we tend to look for reason(s) not to help instead of the other way around.

Thanks for taking the time to read this message. If you would like to discuss this matter further or would like me to speak to your church congregation, an organization, PTSA, Lodge Hall Meeting, Police Athletic Club, college, any place, anywhere do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
